 Mural Workshops

Mural workshops are a fantastic way of collaboratively producing an impactful work of art with a strong message.

Participants will develop their spray painting skills, learn to work as a team and grow in confidence as a result. The sessions culminate in a large-scale mural that they and the surrounding community can be proud of.

Watching the young people grow in self-confidence, many initially stating ‘I’m rubbish at art/I can’t do this’, was a wonderful thing to witness and the resulting piece is amazing!

Mural workshops can be run with groups of up to ten young people or adults and have the option to take place over one or two sessions. A risk assessment is completed before each session, and full PPE is provided

If you would like to find out more about these sessions, or enquire about running a mural workshop with your organisation, please email me at: hello@oskarwithak.com

All youth members came from disadvantaged backgrounds and most of them have a learning need or struggle with social emotional mental health challenges. Oskar’s talents not only lie in the wonderful pieces of art he produces – he also showed great skill in getting these young people ‘on board’ and supporting each member of the group to develop their creative ideas and give them new skills so they could produce an amazing impactful piece of artwork. An unexpected outcome from the session was how many members of the general public stopped by (whilst the mural was being painted by young people) and were extremely complimentary of the art work. This obviously had a positive effect of challenging any negative concepts they may have had of ‘young people’ and began to build community relationships.

Oskar was great in engaging with the all the young people throughout the whole project so much so, I have already sent recommendations out to colleagues in other youth services who are looking to deliver projects with a ‘WOW’ factor.’

I had the pleasure of working with Oskar on a project he completed with our ‘care experience’ young people’s group. He helped them create an empowering mural at the Leaving Care centre, a place that can hold challenging memories for our young people. However, he was patient, incredibly supportive and extremely accommodating to the differing levels of needs and abilities that our group had and our young people left beaming with pride at the new skill they had cultivated. Most importantly, Oskar ensured that the voice and story of our young people was championed through the mural and that their stories were told in a beautiful and striking way.

I couldn’t recommend Oskar more highly, a true professional (even when working with ambiguity), and a very talented artist!
