Save Ryebank Fields
University live brief: make a data set into a physical outcome.
In the 1970’s a plot of land was gifted to Manchester Metropolitan University to be used as playing fields. Since 1996 this plot has been left to re-wild and is now host to owls, small mammals including bats, 60 species of birds and over 1,400 trees. This 4.6 hectare plot is a called Ryebank Fields and is located in Chorlton, south Manchester. Man Met now want to sell this land to property developers.
This project was made in support of the Save Ryebank Fields campaign. Each of the trees represent a tree at risk at Ryebank and I got staff and students to help me assemble them and sign the petition. The trees are made out of recycled greyboard and screenprinted with existing petitions.
This project is a won a Creative Conscience Award in 2020!
